PLANNER SEGMENT. Speed.

PYRAMID BLOCK. Speed

PURPOSE. To Improve Speed with and without the ball plus Strength, Stamina.

AGE. U12, U16.

SET UP. 

Flags set 10 yards apart with a marker line or cone in the middle that is used to make out quarter lengths of one full circuit.
1/2 length = 1/4 circuit.
1 length = 1/2 Circuit.
1.5 lengths = 3/4 circuit.

ACTION.

On the whistle Players dribble figure of 8 around the flags for 45secs U12 and 1min U16 and the coach counts the number of circuits and 1/4 circuits are covered.
The runs are covered using:

  1. Both feet
  2. Right foot only
  3. Left foot only

VARIATION 1

Dribble then Step on The Ball and leave it in the middle, sprint around the opposite flag, dribble the ball around the opposite flag.
Repeat the sequence for U12 45 seconds U16 90 seconds.
Take all scores and keep records.

COACHʼS TIP.

Keep scores and compare them at intervals throughout the season.

PLAYERʼS TIP.

Look for minimum touches between the flags and lots of short control touches around them.
